What this is

Crossfiled is a free, advertising-supported news reader operated by Champlin Enterprises, LLC. Using the site means accepting what is on this page.

Other people's journalism

Crossfiled shows headlines, short extracts and thumbnails, and links to the newsroom that published each piece. We do not host, reproduce or claim ownership of anyone's reporting. Copyright in every headline, extract, image and video stays with its publisher.

Videos play through the publisher's own embed, so the publisher receives the view. If you are a rights holder and want your material removed, write to kevin@champlinenterprises.com and we will act promptly.

Accuracy

Crossfiled groups and links to reporting; it does not verify it. The accuracy of any story is the responsibility of the outlet that published it. Grouping several outlets together is not an endorsement of any of them, and the order stories appear in is produced by settings you control.

The site is provided as it is, without warranty. We do not guarantee it will be available, current, or free of error.

Your account

An account is optional and exists so your settings follow you between devices. Keep your sign-in secure. We may suspend an account being used to abuse the service or anyone using it. You can ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it at any time, and we will.

The API

The public API and MCP server may be used without a key, within the published rate limit. Two conditions: cite the newsroom named on each item for the reporting, and do not present Crossfiled's data as your own original journalism. We may change or withdraw the API, and we will give notice where we can.

Advertising

Advertising pays for the site. Ads are labelled and kept visually separate from stories. An advertiser cannot buy a place in the ranking, because the ranking is four numbers you set. See Privacy and cookies for what advertising involves.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Champlin Enterprises, LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of this site or from anything you read on a site we linked to. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes with them.
